Bagan Is Optimistic It Will Draw More Visitors This Tourist Season
Authorities are optimistic that visitor arrivals will not be effected despite it being hit by a powerful earthquake last month.
According to the Bagan Branch of the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism there were 250,000 visitors in 2015 and are hoping to welcome more than 300,000 this season.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs & Culture is heading the renovation work of the quake-hit pagodas with the help of UNESCO.
It also plans to submit Bagan to be inscribed in the World Heritage List.
