Industry response to next year’s ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) continues to grow with more than 350 TRAVEX (travel exchange) booths contracted and some 550 applications for the Hosted Buyers Programme.
ATF aims to promote ASEAN as a single destination and hosting of the event is rotated among the member countries each year.
Participation from host country Myanmar is at an all-time high.
Philippe Battle, Accor’s area general manager for Myanmar, said: “Myanmar is a promising market and a new frontier for us in Asia.
“We have one hotel open in Myanmar – M Gallery the Lake Garden Nay Pyi Taw, and a Novotel resort in Inle Lake scheduled to open by October 2014, followed by a Novotel hotel in Yangon.”
Local Myanmar conglomerates have also shown strong support for ATF 2015.
The organizing committee has secured sponsorship from private banks, multi-industry conglomerates and Myanmar’s newest international and domestic airline Golden Myanmar Airlines.
The official venue for ATF 2015 is the newly-completed Myanmar International Convention Centre (MICC), which recently hosted the 24th ASEAN Summit.
Themed ‘ASEAN – Tourism towards Peace, Prosperity and Partnership’, ATF 2015 will be held from January 22-29 in capital city Nay Pyi Taw.
Limited exhibition space is still available by applying online (www.atf-2015.com).
Application for the Hosted Buyer and Media Programmes will close on October 15.
