Putao – Situated 1499 feet above the sea and located far north of Myanmar in Kachin State, descendent from the eastern Himalayan region. Lies in a flat valley, famous as a jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains.

Early morning, fly to Myint Gyina via Mandalay.

Upon arrival at Putao airport, greet Putao Trekking House's representative and transfer to the lodge, located under a shady park. Putao is located in a flat valley, and it is the starting point for trekkers who want to explore the region's deep forests and wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. Putao town and a fort were built during 1914-15 by Commissioner Mr. Hertz, along with the Fort which was later known as Fort Hertz. Then a missionary based on the Rawan and Lisu tribe as the initial group and introduced Grapefruit, Washington Naval, Vlincha Orange, Ruby Oranges, King Orange, and King Mandarin, plus America Lime. After a brief refresher, take a walk around Putao for orientation.

DAY 02

MACHAN BAW-MULASHIDI

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early in the morning, walk to Putao market, then depart by jeep or coach through the vast Putao plain to Htawadum (14 km, approx. one hour). Here we visit the famous Kanugmulon Pagoda, said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by Thiri Dhamma Thawka, the great king. From here, we board local fishermen boats and sail downstream along the famous Malikha river to Machanbaw (approx.). one hour). Machanbaw, a charming administrative city with magnificently established in colonial style. We visit the town and then walk across the suspension bridge. We then hop on the waiting coach which takes us to Mulashidi, which is approximately 20 miles away. one hour). Mulashidi, meaning in Lisu, means 'the village stands in a thatch field along the Mula River'. Here we visit another suspension bridge across the Mula River and enjoy the beautiful surrounding backdrop with snow-capped mountains in the distance. We will return to Putao later and check-in at our hotel.

DAY 03

Breakfast at the hotel.

Then, walk to Lonsut village, through vast paddy fields, cross over Namhtun creek, and walk up to the small plateau for an excellent overview of the Putao valley. Continue walking through the beautiful bamboo grove to Hopaing Shan village. Here we visit a Buddhist Monastery where we have the opportunity to meet friendly Hkamti Shan people. Our return walk will take us along Namhtun creek and there's an option for a visit to some of the Lisu villages along the way. Afternoon we visited the village of Putaung through a rice field and gardens having a small Buddhist shrine with a backdrop of snowy mountains away on the horizon. Go back to Putao and check into a hotel.

DAY 04

Perhaps a last-minute shopping at Putao market and a further visit in and around Putao with the suggestion of our guide. Following an early lunch, we proceed to the airport for our onward departure flight to finish this unique experience.
